DARIAH took part both on site and online. Our colleagues met partners from all the participating institutions and agreed on a shared approach to the work packages. Presentations and sessions highlighted why data stewardship matters and how closer cooperation between institutions can make data more accessible and better managed, by sharing knowledge and best practices across disciplines.
Within STARDAST, DARIAH will be involved in multiple Work Packages (WPs), but will mainly work in WP1 on the data stewardship landscape, competence centres and workforce integration. DARIAH will bring the perspective of the arts and humanities into the project, focusing on its policy mapping, publication guidance and training resources.
Drawing on the expertise of the DARIAH Research Data Management Working Group in Open Science, research data management, and FAIR and CARE principles, we will also work closely with Hamburg University and the RDA Data Steward Career Tracks Working Group to map Open Science policies, assess how prepared institutions are to integrate data stewardship roles, and pilot recruitment and onboarding practices within WP1.
DARIAH will also be involved in WP3 “Data stewards upskilling and community building” to identify the training needs and skill gaps of data stewards in different profiles and institutional settings. We will be contributing to the development and validation of formats for knowledge transfer that showcase data stewardship in action, including reusable workflows and microlearning units as part of WP4 on “Data stewardship knowledge dissemination”.
Finally, DARIAH will also support stakeholder engagement and external communication within WP6.
