ROSSIO infrastructure is the Portuguese representative of DARIAH. The infrastructure aims to be a place where researchers, teachers, students and citizens have open and intuitive access to unique and diversified digital resources in Portuguese language concerning Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
Since 2014, ROSSIO integrates the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures (Category 1 – those that have demonstrated high scientific potential and are considered to have high strategic regional and/or national relevance)**. It is funded by the European Council and supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
One of the priorities of ROSSIO is to implement the national roadmap to Open Access and Open Data. Another main goal is to develop the use of digital methods and tools in the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities research agenda. Also important is to foster the awareness and impact of the Digital Humanities community that has been growing in the past decade. ROSSIO collaboration with educational, cultural and heritage institutions and the implementation of guidelines for a deeper and more dynamic integration in the digital world is relevant for the creation of a more balanced, sustainable and inclusive society.
