As of September 1st, DARIAH has a new President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Toma Tasovac. Tasovac has been a Member of the Board of Directors since 2018.
“DARIAH is a vibrant, constantly evolving organisation and I am very happy to continue being part of that evolution,” said Tasovac.
Dr. Jennifer Edmond stepped down as President of the Board on August 31st after a 4-year term. She will continue to serve as Member of the Board until the end of the year.
“The DARIAH Board of Directors is a collective body which has always made their decisions jointly,” Tasovac said. “That is certainly not going to change now.”
Tasovac has a strong international profile in both the traditional humanities and computational methods. He was educated at Harvard University, Princeton University and Trinity College Dublin. His areas of scholarly expertise include historical and electronic lexicography, data modeling, digital editions and research infrastructures.
DARIAH is currently looking for a new person to join the Board of Directors as of January 2023. Directors are appointed by the DARIAH General Assembly for up to two three-year terms.
The Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH) aims to enhance and support digitally-enabled research and teaching across the arts and humanities. DARIAH is a network of people, expertise, information, knowledge, content, methods, tools and technologies from its member countries. It develops, maintains and operates an infrastructure in support of ICT-based research practices and sustains researchers in using them to build, analyse and interpret digital resources. By working with communities of practice, DARIAH brings together individual state-of-the-art digital arts and humanities activities and scales their results to a European level. It preserves, provides access to and disseminates research that stems from these collaborations and ensures that best practices, methodological and technical standards are followed.
DARIAH was established as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) in August 2014. Currently, DARIAH has 20 Members, 1 Observer and several Cooperating Partners in seven non-member countries.
