The LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ RI brings together the most prominent institutions in the area of language, linguistics and language technology, connected to the CLARIN network, and institutions, faculties and departments from the area of digital humanities and arts, which will work as part of the DARIAH network. These areas have a lot to offer - from the infrastructural point of view – to the Czech as well as to the European research community, to form a unique consortium serving the ideas behind DARIAH and Digital Humanities in general.
The project partners have all subscribed to the idea of digital data preparation and open sharing, development of new tools and common standards to provide information about their collections to the research community, and to the idea of mutual cooperation within the country and beyond, all within the DARIAH network. It is believed that given the rich cultural history of the Czech Republic and its predecessors dating back more than 1000 years (and beyond), the benefit and the impact to the research community as well as to the public will be mutual: researchers in the Czech Republic will be able to access the data and know-how of their European colleagues, while the European Digital Humanities researchers will be able to access the original and often precious Czech resources and help spread our national cultural heritage internationally.
