UpcomingDH Benelux Conference 2027
Université libre de Bruxelles
Join us for Huminfra’s third conference, bringing together scholars working with digital and experimental research in the humanities and related fields.
Huminfra is a Swedish national infrastructure supporting digital and experimental research in the Humanities by providing users with a single-entry point for finding existing Swedish materials and research tools, and by developing national method courses.
On 18–19 August, 2027, Huminfra will hold its third conference in Växjö, Sweden, with the aim of showcasing resources and initiatives supporting digital and experimental research in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and related fields. The conference aims to follow a single-track format, bringing participants together for shared presentations and discussions.
Huminfra Conference (HiC) 2027 will be preceded by the affiliated DARIAH-SE event on 17 August, 2027 (further details on pre-conference event will be announced later), offering additional opportunities for exchange and collaboration within the broader digital humanities community from across Europe.
We invite submissions that cover any aspect of research infrastructure components for digital or experimental human science. Submissions may be for full presentations, short presentations, posters, demonstrations.
Submissions may represent various types of work and stages of maturity, such as blue-sky research, work in progress, finished digital resources (e.g., tools, datasets), hands-on demonstrations, methodological innovations, training initiatives, lessons learned, strategic perspectives, and critical reflections.
Themes for submissions should primarily focus on:
Research infrastructures and resources: The development and use of infrastructures, platforms, tools, datasets, training materials, and collections for human sciences research.
Uses and impacts of Huminfra/DARIAH-SE: Cases and reflections on Huminfra/DARIAH-SE resources, services, events, and training.
Research methods and technologies: Methods, tools, and technologies for human sciences research, including innovative approaches and work with intermediality and multimodality.
We welcome contributions for full presentations, short presentations (research in progress), posters, and demonstrations. The submission requirements depend on the type of contribution:
Full presentations: A conference paper of approximately 3–6 pages (excluding references), with the opportunity to submit an extended paper for the post-conference proceedings.
Short presentations, posters, and demonstrations: An abstract of approximately 300 words.
Accepted conference papers and abstracts will be published electronically in DiVA by Linnaeus University Press (with an ISBN). Authors of accepted full presentations will also have the opportunity to submit extended papers for the post-conference proceedings (publisher to be confirmed).
If you wish to propose an alternative presentation format (e.g., a panel), please contact us at submissions.hic2027@lnu.se.
All submissions will undergo peer review. Contributions will be evaluated based on their relevance to the conference themes, clarity of presentation, methodological soundness (where applicable), originality, practical contribution, and relevance to the research infrastructure community. The evaluation will take into account the nature and maturity of work being represented in the submission. Reports on the use of research infrastructure (esp. Huminfra/DARIAH-SE) will be valued for offering concrete use cases, documenting benefits and challenges, presenting lessons learned, and offering insights into how infrastructure supports research/teaching/collaboration (instead of primarily for methodological rigour or technological novelty).
HiC 2027 intends to publish extended papers as open-access post-conference proceedings, following the model of HiC 2025. Authors of accepted papers for full presentations will be invited to submit revised versions following the peer review.
The final versions may be extended, allowing authors to develop their contributions further. As the proceedings will be published electronically, the final page limit will be determined by the Programme Co-Chairs and communicated to authors in the publication guidelines. The revised papers will be subject to an additional peer-review assessment to ensure that reviewer comments have been addressed.
Authors will be expected to follow the proceedings formatting guidelines from the initial submission stage. Requirements concerning declarations of AI use and accessibility of figures and other visual materials will be communicated in accordance with the publisher's policies.
For conference and proceedings:
Deadline for submissions: 12 April, 2027, 11:59 PM (CET)
Notification of acceptance: 17 May, 2027
Additional dates for post-conference proceedings:
Deadline for selected full publications: 13 September, 2027
