SUMMARY:Helsinki Digital Humanities Hackathon 2023 #DHH23
DESCRIPTION:Helsinki Digital Humanities Hackathon #DHH23 will be organised
24.5.-2.6.2023 as CLARIN and DARIAH international summer school. The event
will be organised as an in-person hackathon. Participation to #DHH23 is f
ree to all accepted participants. In addition\, the organisers are offerin
g bursaries for travel and lodging.\n\nThe Helsinki Digital Humanities Hac
kathon is a chance to experience an interdisciplinary research project f
rom start to finish within the span of 10 days. For researchers and stud
ents from computer science and data science\, the hackathon gives the oppo
rtunity to test their abstract knowledge against complex real-life problem
 s. For people from the humanities and social sciences\, it shows what is p
ossible to achieve with such collaboration.\n\nFor both\, the hackathon gi
ves the experience of intensely working with people from different backgro
unds as part of an interdisciplinary team\, as\, during the hackathon\, ea
ch group develops a digital humanities research project from start to fini
sh. Working together\, they formulate research questions with respect to p
articular data sets\, develop and apply methods and tools to answer them\,
and present the work at the end of the hackathon. For information on what
the hackathon was like in previous years\, see #DHH22\, #DHH21\, #DHH1
 9\, #DHH18\, #DHH17\, #DHH16 and #DHH15.\n\n5 ECTS credits may be gai
ned from participating in the hackathon for students at the University of
Helsinki and other universities.\n\nCheck the hackathon website for more
 information.
