SUMMARY:DARIAH Annual Event 2021: Interfaces
DESCRIPTION:The DARIAH Annual Event 2021 will take place online\, on Septe
 mber 7-9\, 2021. Topic of this year’s event is Interfaces.\n\nDigital i
nterfaces enable communication between humans and machines\, especially co
mputers\, by translating signals and providing capacity for the interpreta
tion of information. They facilitate work in digital environments and can
take on many different forms\, ranging from command line interfaces to 2D
graphical user interfaces or immersive 3D approaches. It is the aim of t
his year’s DARIAH Annual Event to discuss the role that interfaces play
in the arts and humanities. To what extent do they enable new research\, a
nd at the same time\, do they also limit research possibilities? How is co
ntent/information changed while being transmitted by interfaces? How do in
terfaces reframe the roles of those using them\, their roles as producer a
 nd/or consumer of interfaces?\n\nProgramme & Registration\n\nTentative pro
gramme of the event is now published on the conference’s website. The p
rogramme\, which will run over three days on September 7-9\, includes two
keynote speeches by Sarah Kenderdine (École polytechnique fédérale de L
ausanne) and Chris Heilman (Microsoft)\, 3 panels and 4 paper sessions on
the following topics:\n\nInterfaces for GLAM and Cultural Heritage Instit
 utions\nThe Making of Interfaces\nInterfaces and Infrastructures\nTheoreti
cal Reflections Around Interfaces\n\nRegistration to the event is now open
\, and will remain open until early September. Please make sure to registe
r to follow the event. Zoom links will be distributed to registered parti
