SUMMARY:Capacity enhancement in DH: training and beyond
DESCRIPTION:AHRC IRC UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Research Network 1st Wor
kshop on ‘Capacity enhancement in DH: training and beyond’\n\nThe UK-
Ireland Digital Humanities Network (PIs: Prof. Jane Winters and Dr. Miche
lle Doran)\, funded by the AHRC and IRC\, brings together different stakeh
olders in Digital Humanities and related fields to consider and interrogat
 e critically the concepts of sustainability\, inclusivity\, training\, adv
ocacy and career progression\, among other key questions. Institutions and
individuals engaged with the network will work to propose ways in which t
he UK and Ireland can build a collaborative vision for the field\, and cre
ate new and sustainable long-term partnerships in alignment with the inter
national community.\n\nThe objectives of the workshop organised for the ne
twork by King’s Digital Lab are the following:\n\nContribute to developi
ng pathways to sustained\, effective and widespread capacity-building fo
r DH researchers in the UK and Ireland across disciplines\, institutions
and career stages.\nContribute to define specific pathways for training
highly interdisciplinary humanists who are able to work across multiple
sectors\, including and beyond academia.\nContribute to the broad inclusi
on of communities beyond individuals based in research-performing organis
ations\, including cultural heritage institutions\, the arts and creative
industries\, and interested citizen scientists.\nProvide opportunities for
individual researchers to develop their skills and networks\, and to cont
ribute to international debates about the future of the field.\nConsider
and interrogate critically the concepts of sustainability\, inclusivity\,
training\, advocacy and career progression.\n\nThe workshop discussions
and findings will contribute to a discussion paper outlining capacity gap
s in UK / Ireland digital humanities\, with reference to the European and
global contexts\, and training strategies that could be used by a future U
K Ireland DH Association to resolve them.\n\nParticipation upon registrati
