Artificial Intelligence and Music (AIM)

The primary goal of the WG Artificial Intelligence and Music (AIM) is to strengthen all fronts of advocacy at the intersection of Music and Artificial Intelligence, addressing the outreaching needs of universities, industry and institutions in this field. The group is built around a community of leading researchers, industry practitioners and government institutions with a deep interest in the relationship between music and AI. As an advocacy effort, it is part of the mission of the WG to constantly look for broadening its community, providing bridges, networks and means of communication to its members.

In order to accomplish this, the WG operates in two different areas for outreach and impact:

• To bring on the table the currently existing EU technical infrastructures, big and small, for intelligent management of musical information; and to devise possible connections between themselves and with the DARIAH infrastructure.

• To establish an inclusive roadmap for research and education around AI and music, with a special focus on multidisciplinarity in fields contributing now to music and AI. In order to support these two activities in an open, interoperable and scalable Web setting, we ardently advocate Linked Open Data and Web data standards.

    Dr. Albert Meroño Peñuela is a postdoctoral researcher in Knowledge Representation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He...

    Dr. Albert Meroño Peñuela is a postdoctoral researcher in Knowledge Representation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He investigates the integration of and access to diverse types of knowledge, with a special interest in Digital Humanities data and workflows. He is involved in research on knowledge graphs, Linked Data, Web Query Languages, and APIs. Currently, he is enrolled in CLARIAH, a Dutch national project to build research infrastructure for Digital Humanities. Albert obtained his PhD in 2016 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, under the supervision of prof. dr. Frank van Harmelen, dr. Stefan Schlobach, and dr. Andrea Scharnhorst. He also holds a bachelor in Informatics Engineering from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (FIB-UPC) and has done research at the Institute of Law and Technology (IDT-UAB).

    Enrico Daga is involved in research projects on Web semantics and ontology engineering since 2008, participating to the development of intelligent systems first at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and then at the Knowledge Media Institute of the Open University. His research interests include the management of datasets metadata, open data governance, quantitative methods for the humanities, automated reasoning with policies/licences, and Linked Data publishing and reuse. Former student of Music and Performing Arts (University RomaTRE), Enrico is founder and chair of the WHiSe Workshop on Humanities in the Semantic Web. Currently, he is Technical Lead of the CityLABS project, an ERDF initiative aiming at supporting the development of SMEs in the SEMLEP region through knowledge transfer from academy to industry.
