  Elena Gigliarelli is a Senior Scientist at the ISPC Institute of Heritage Sciences of the CNR National Research Council of Italy, where she leads the BHiLAB Built Heritage Innovation Laboratory. She joined the CNR in 1991, where she’s been promoting and developing national and international projects in protection and enhancement of built heritage. She earned a master’s degree in architecture and a specialization in restoration of monuments at Sapienza University. Her research arises from the objective to integrate the application and development of new diagnostic techniques with the conservation design strategies for a comprehensive model of knowledge and conservation of built heritage, with a focus on the adaptation of architectural heritage with technological interventions to improve levels of living comfort and energy efficiency. She is actively involved in Research Infrastructures at national level with the project DARIAH-IT “Developing nAtional and Regional Infrastructural nodes of dAriaH in ITaly", acting as Head of the Node OR3 of the Naples Research Unit. She is currently the Scientific Coordinator of the international EU project "BEEP BIM for Energy Efficiency in the Public sector" funded by the European CBC MED program, with 7 Mediterranean countries. Other current scientific coordination roles: Head of the Research Unit OR2 - "Sustainable HBIM for the conservation, management and enhancement of sites" of the PON Project "IDEHA Innovation for Data Elaboration in Heritage Areas - Innovations for data processing in the Cultural Heritage sector", PNR 2015- 2020. Lead Partner: CNR (€ 9,146,451.80); Director of the archaeological mission financed by MAECI in Albania: “Multidisciplinary digital technologies for the study and conservation of post-Byzantine monasteries in southern Albania”; Scientific coordinator of the HBIM Integrated Information System project for the conservation and management of cultural sites in Lazio (HBIM4lazioHERITAGE) -POR FESR LAZIO; Scientific coordinator of the HBIM4MANN Project for the construction of an HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) platform for the MANN National Archaeological Museum of Naples. She published more than one hundred papers in national and international refereed journals/conferences and gave invited lectures or courses at several international conferences. She teaches in university courses and masters where she acts as scientific tutor and curator of degree and doctoral theses. She is member of several Associations, Scientific Committee and Editorial Boards.  She received the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage 2009 Europa Nostra Award for the restoration of St. Nicholas Church, Cyprus.

  Georgios Artopoulos, Associate Professor, Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center, Cyprus Institute, works on immersive and performative spaces, on virtual environments, modelling and simulation for the study of built heritage and the creative exploration of historical narratives in the context of public open space. Georgios holds a Master of Philosophy and a PhD, University of Cambridge (UK) with a Doctoral Award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Previously he was employed by the Heriot-Watt University, UK, the University of Melbourne, the University of Cambridge and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Georgios has contributed in more than 12 International Research Programs and received the Best International Short Film award in Mestre Film Festival, Venice. His work was presented at La Biennale di Venezia, the Royal Institute of British Architects, London, the London Design Festival, Seoul Biennale of Architecture & Urbanism 2017, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago, the ISEA 2006 and 2008, the British Council, Brussels, the Hong Kong and Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, and in many art exhibitions. His work was published in more than 28 peer-reviewed journals and books of architecture and 35 International Conference proceedings and exhibition catalogues.
