As of November 2021, Jennifer Edmond, President of the Board of Directors of DARIAH-EU and Associate Professor of Digital Humanities at Trinity College Dublin, has been elected to join the Governing Board of the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities (EASSH).
EASSH is a membership organisation that aims to promote and strengthen the social sciences and humanities in Europe and to engage with policymakers and research funders in support of these disciplines. Consisting of more than 65 member organisations, including scientific networks, associations and universities, EASSH provides channels and platforms for effectively communicating expertise on policy, programmes and results to decision makers and public officials.
“It is an honor to be elected to the Governing Board of EASSH”, said Jennifer Edmond. “I am very much looking forward to contributing to the Board’s activity with my experience in digital research infrastructure, open science and interdisciplinarity.”
DARIAH is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) whose mission is to empower research communities with digital methods to create, connect and share knowledge about culture and society. With 20 member states, one observer country, and an established network of cooperating partners in six non-member countries, DARIAH is a strong voice for Arts and Humanities in research policy debates on the future of science.
“DARIAH-EU has already been working closely with EASSH over the past years, promoting Open Science, advocating for the position of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in funding debates, informing and influencing European policy- and decision makers” Jennifer added. “Joining the Governing Board of EASSH is a step in the right direction and a testament to DARIAH’s commitment to shaping favourable conditions for arts and humanities research.”
Jennifer Edmond will act as a Board member of EASSH for a three-year term, starting in November 2021. EASSH is led by a Director, Gabi Lombardo, and is overseen by an elected Governing Board.
