The DESIR Final Event will take place on 6-7 November in Zagreb, Croatia, alongside the DARIAH General Assembly. DESIR is a Horizon 2020 funded project working towards strengthening the sustainability of DARIAH and firmly establishing it as a long-term leader and partner within arts and humanities communities. The event will be the occasion to showcase the results of the project and discuss strategies for DARIAH sustainability beyond the project’s lifetime.
We have achieved a lot during the three years of the DESIR project. We went international exploring collaborations beyond Europe and managed to establish relations with the Library of Congress, Stanford University, the Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Australian Research Data Commons where we held very successful workshops. We hosted many training events encouraging knowledge exchange and skills and supported setting up the EURISE network where research infrastructures meet research software engineers.
We also launched Europe-wide surveys on trust and use of DARIAH, analysing the results for strengthening our relationship with the arts and humanities communities. The DESIR Final Event will be the place to discuss all these outcomes looking forward to next steps for a more sustainable infrastructure.
Marco Raciti, DARIAH’s Project Manager
The focus of the first day of the DESIR Final Event will be on presenting major outcomes of the project and on launching DARIAH Campus, a platform to explore different ways of capturing and consolidating DARIAH learning resources. A keynote speech will be given by Prof. Riccardo Pozzo, Chair of the DARIAH Scientific Board, on “Cultural Innovation, a notion taken for granted”.
The second day will be the occasion to discuss with the DARIAH General Assembly current and future challenges of the infrastructure and strategies towards a sustainable DARIAH, analysing the relationship between the national nodes and the European infrastructure.
