SciDataCon 2018, the international conference for scrutiny and discussion of the frontier issues of data in research, seeks to explore the digital frontiers of global science by bringing together research and practice papers from a wide range of perspectives. The scope is explicitly broad and inclusive, addressing all aspects of the role of data in research.
The high-level themes of the 2018 edition are:
- the digital frontiers of global science;
- a global and inclusive data revolution;
- applications, progress and challenges of data intensive research;
- data infrastructure and enabling practices for international and collaborative research.
As part of the session “Research Data in the Arts and Humanities – Requirements, Needs, and Perspectives of Research Data and Research Infrastructures in the Digital Humanities”, organised by Dr. Jan Brase (University of Göttingen), DARIAH will be presented as a European example of Arts and Humanities infrastructures aiming to internationalize the interaction with others in the field, and to establish greater formal liaison between different DH initiatives around the world. The focus of the session and the discussion afterwards is an international comparison of digital humanities activities in Europe, the US and Africa, and to give both the panel and participants an unparalleled opportunity to debate the requirements and needs of scholars in the Digital Humanities in partnership.
Last few days to apply!
The organisers invite lightning talks over the perspectives of scholars, digital research infrastructure providers and libraries, their positive interrelations, the necessary conditions for effective digital humanities infrastructure, and the use of research data in the arts and humanities, with ample room for questions from participants. Deadline for applications: May 31.
