The EUDOn COST Action Proposal wants to help data scientist and researchers working with digital data in overcoming the biggest roadblocks on the path towards a seamlessly functioning data domain. (More information about COST actions can be found here.
It will do so by focusing on the concept of Digital Objects as discussed and developed in the Research Data Alliance and C2CAMP initiatives, and as can be implemented as a local solution in cloud systems.
The proposal aims to organise networks of existing experts from pan-European research infrastructures, e-Infrastructures, the RDA Europe community and other related initiatives. The three major roadblocks requiring urgent changes are: inadequate data sharing/trading culture, inefficient data management/ processing (including interoperability) and a lack of automation in data handling.
The core of the EUDOn application will be to bring data scientists together which currently suffer from fragmentation and lack of interoperability. Data Scientists include a certain spectrum ranging from those colleagues that are focusing on data analytics to those that focusing on federating data with novel methods. We also need to include early stage researchers.
